About the St. James’s Place Foundation
A grant-making charity with a difference
Since 1992 we’ve raised over £56 million, supporting hundreds of charities.
Who are we?
The St. James’s Place Foundation is the charitable arm of the St. James’s Place Wealth Management Group.
We’ve been supporting those in need since 1992, making a positive and lasting difference to people’s lives by awarding grants to charities registered in the UK to assist them in the incredible work they do every day. So far we’ve raised and distributed over £56 million to hundreds of charities.
Who do we support?
We aim to make a significant difference to the lives of children and young people. We give grants to charities working for the direct benefit of economically disadvantaged or socially marginalised young people, the physically disabled, or those suffering from a mental condition or life-threatening or degenerative illness.
We are also proud to support hospices in the UK through the Hospice Movement, as well as working with charities supporting people of all ages with cancer.
How do we choose the areas we support?
Since the outset, the Foundation has been keen to support small to medium-sized charities that can benefit substantially from relatively small grants. Hundreds of small charities have benefited as a result.
The focus of the Foundation is on helping children and young people who have special needs or are disadvantaged, and supporting the hospice movement throughout the UK.
Our management committee reviews all applications and with reference to the selection criteria, they will agree which charities we are able to support.
How do we raise funds?
We rely on the St. James’s Place community who support the Foundation in any way they can. That includes donating from their earnings: currently over 80% of our Partners and employees regularly donate in this way.
Fundraising events are also an important part of our income, with everything from running 250km through the Kalahari Desert to golf days being organised by our community to raise funds. What’s more, since 1999, every pound raised by the community has been matched by the company. All the Foundation’s administration costs are also covered, so everything raised goes straight to the charities we support.
