Yorkshire Children of Courage launch their awards ceremony at Headingley Experience

Headingley Stadium

Headingley Experience plays host to the stars, sponsors and winners of The Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards (YCCA) on Monday 16th June as the official launch of the 2014 event gets underway.

The St. James’s Place Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards 2014, in association with Arrow Cars will be held this year at New Dock Hall on Friday 10th October and is once again to be presented by Steph McGovern, BBC Breakfast Journalist.

The launch party is kindly being funded jointly by Headingley Experience, Gary Hetherington Chief Executive of Leeds Rhinos  and Terry George the Secret Millionaire, and is being held in the prestigious Taverner’s  Suite where guests get the opportunity to gaze over both the Rugby and the Cricket pitches.

They may not have time to admire the view as an upbeat programme is planned and on hand to entertain will be the Chuckle Brothers. Paul and Barry had this to say as they take on a new role this year as Ambassadors for the event: “There are no words that can express the bravery of these children more than the way they lead their lives. That says it all. Love and good luck to them all. We are all very proud of them”.

Past award winner Bethany Hare, an accomplished vocalist, will entertain with her now renowned tribute to Charlie Chaplin who was her grandfather’s hero. Bethany received the inaugural award for Young Fundraiser in 2011 and other  past winners will be there to tell their stories and how being recognised for their bravery and courage has helped them to go on to achieve yet more in their lives.

A new Group Award is being launched at the party – kindly sponsored by Prism IT Solutions – the new category is subject to an online vote and three groups are in the running. Jessie’s Fund, Prism Youth Project and Able2 Pontefract Special Olympics are all past recipients of grant funding from St. James’s Place Foundation, organisers of YCCA. Voting opens officially during the party as well as nominations for the individual awards.

With headline sponsors Arrow Cars and main sponsors Millhouse Furniture, Reward Capital, Black’s Solicitors and ABV Wholesalers all dropping in to say hello it should be a lively affair!
