Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards lively launch party at Headingley Stadium

Kindly hosted by Headingley Stadium the 9th annual Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards kicked off in style last night.

Yorkshire celebrities, sponsors, past winners and many contributors to these unique annual awards were in attendance. The party is designed as a get together for all those involved in past events as well as the main Awards ceremony which takes place later this year at New Dock Hall on 11th October 2019.

Presented by Mandy Taylor of Charity Angels the party officially marked the opening of Nominations for 2019. Long time supporters and ‘Friends’ of YCCA, Eddie and Linda Gray were in attendance. Tim Willis, Head of Business at St. James’s Place Wealth Management in Leeds thanked guests and sponsors for attending. Past winner Junior Frood, street dancer and anti-bullying campaigner, plus Ella Playford one of the winners in 2018 danced and sang for guests. Mickey and Minnie Mouse were there along with a lone Stormtrooper who livened up proceedings.

A special guest, namely Sarah Emmott, our Special Recognition winner in 2018, came along with her family. They were recently chosen by Ruth and Eamon to be featured on their C5 ‘Do the right thing’ programme. Everybody was delighted to watch the video. Sarah so aptly typifies the bravery and character shown by many of our past winners.

There was plenty of fun with goody bags for the children and Teddies donated by Variety, the Children’s Charity. Everyone enjoyed Yorkshire Hot Dogs, Marco’s Ice Cream and Mocktails from Bar Events.

The nominees for the 2019 Group Award Leeds Children’s Charity, Get Away Girls and OHANA.

were introduced and everyone is now encouraged to start voting on the website for the charity they feel most deserves the award.

What’s next? The Nominations Roadshow starts next month and dates will be on the website. We aim to boost nominations by taking our Box out to sponsors and stakeholders and getting the public involves so that we continue to spread the word about this unique event.

If you would like to get involved in any way please contact us. Tickets are now on public sale from Jane Clynes Events 07703 271238, and nominations for deserving children as well as votes for the Group Award can be made via the website
