Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards 2017 Nominations Roadshow at Lineham Farm Children’s Centre

On Thursday 3rd August the St. James’s Place Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards (YCCA) annual Roadshow moved to Linehan Farm Children’s Centre in Leeds. This much loved venue enhances the lives of local children by providing much needed respite breaks and activity holidays, providing each child with a journey of discovery. Many of the children who attend often do not experience all that the countryside and a residential environment has to offer.

One of the charitable Groups nominated in the Group category at Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards 2017 is Leeds based Heart Research UK which has, over the last 50 years, played a major role in the important breakthroughs in heart surgery which have helped to save countless lives. The charity has a particular focus on children’s rehabilitation and having researched what little is on offer for children and young people, they actively provide rehab programmes especially designed for youngsters and their families.

Leeds based Heart Camps will be held at Lineham Farm for children suffering with heart complaints. Their ‘Helping Little Hearts’ initiative aims to encourage play and discovery within their limited capabilities.

Heart Research UK has invited YCCA Roadshow to Lineham to showcase the valuable work of the two organisations and to help to raise awareness of the unique YCCA event as well as to boost nominations for children and young adults deserving of recognition for their bravery, courage and overall achievements. Winners will be recognised at the annual awards dinner this October.

The stars of this Roadshow were the children and their parents who are supported by Heart Research UK, and on hand to lead proceedings was the team from the charity headed by Barbara Harpham, Chief Executive.

On the Roadshow were Minnie and Mickey Mouse mascot characters provided by Flying Zebra Services whose mascots will be present at the entire 2017 Roadshow.
