Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards 2017 Nominations Roadshow – final stop at St. Angelo’s Wetherby!

The 2017 Nominations Roadshow has travelled many miles through Yorkshire raising awareness of the unique Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards (YCCA), and helping to boost individual nominations for children and young adults who will be recognised for their bravery, courage and overall achievements at the annual awards dinner this October.

The Roadshow started the summer season at Huddersfield Town’s Premier League ground, moving on to main sponsor, Twinkles Nurseries, in Leeds and Knaresborough. The Tour also stopped off at Lineham Farm Children’s Centre where Group Award Nominee, Heart Research UK, hosted a Heart Camp and showcased their work to support children with heart defects.

On Thursday 10th August the final Roadshow took place in Wetherby hosted at St. Angelo’s Italian Restaurant and attended by celebrity friends, sponsors and children. A party atmosphere prevailed and the aim was to get as many people to nominate deserving children as possible before the closing date of Friday 11th August.

‘Friend’ of YCCA, ITV Calendar’s Christine Talbot, was on hand to show her continued support of the event. Joining her were representatives from Award Sponsors: Claire Turner from TLC Accountants and Rebecca Zimmerman and her team from One Day Creative and Stir Krazy Kids – all Wetherby based companies.

Twinkles Nurseries are supporting the awards for the second year running as a main sponsor and children from the Wetherby Nursery popped down to join in the fun.

Jill Johnson, managing director is excited about YCCA:

“Helping children have the best start in life is what our nurseries across the county are all about and so our support for The Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards feels very right for us. Some children have to cope with so much in life and the amazing ways they find to do so, and also the ways in which they also help others is truly an inspiration to us all. The children from our Leeds nursery are really excited about the chance to help encourage more people to nominate a Yorkshire child of courage.”

Children who attend Twinkles were entertained by meeting Minnie and Mickey Mouse mascot characters provided by Flying Zebra Services. The mascots have been providing fun and laughs at every venue on the 2017 Roadshow.
