Group Nominees for the 2017 Award – Surprise Donations

There were three nominees for the 2017 Group Award sponsored by TCC Group.

The winner of the award was The Parents Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia (PACT), voted for by their supporters and the wider public. For the past 40 years PACT has provided support to every family who is referred to the Oncology unit at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and whose child has cancer or leukaemia. They provide practical support by purchasing equipment for the ward, school room and clinic and for the community nurses who look after the children in their own homes.  Every year they provide trips and treats for the children and their families and they own two caravans.  This year it is their 40th Anniversary and they are very pleased to be able to mark this with a new £670,000 Day Care Centre at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, providing the best facilities possible to support the children and their families.  they are funded by generous donations from the general public and corporate sponsors, and amazing fundraising from families who have been supported by PACT – how they find the time considering what they are dealing with is truly remarkable. Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards were delighted to present them with a cheque for £5,000.

The two runners up, Heart Research UK and Children’s Heart Surgery Fund both received cheques for £2500.

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of St. James’s Place Wealth Management, a discretionary amount was made available to the Leeds Foundation office who thought it very appropriate to make a direct donation to each of our Group Nominees to reward the excellent work they do supporting sick and disadvantaged children in Yorkshire Communities.

We wish all our Group Nominees a very Happy Christmas!
