From small but significant beginnings in 2011 Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards (YCCA) has captured the imagination of the people of Yorkshire and has grown into an amazing celebration of achievement attended by over 750 people.
There are emotional scenes as the region’s bravest and most courageous children and young adults are recognised. From those born with challenging, life-limiting conditions, but excelling in the face of their difficulties, to the young fundraisers who have been inspired to make a difference, to those going out of their way to be a tower of strength for family members in need of support – all the winners will be celebrated and have exceptional stories to tell.
There is also an outstanding organisation behind the Awards. Since it was set up by St. James’s Place Wealth Management company in 1991, the St. James’s Place Foundation has raised and distributed more than £71m to good causes. All the monies raised are matched pound for pound by the FTSE 100-listed St. James’s Place Wealth Management and there is a focus placed on donating to charities that support children and young adults. The funds raised by YCCA contribute hugely towards helping needy children, community groups and organisations in the Yorkshire region.
Our event has a distinctly ‘Yorkshire flavour’ with support and endorsement throughout the year from Yorkshire born celebrity Ambassadors and Friends. They are joined at the Awards by personalities from the worlds of business, sport and entertainment.
Our sponsors are mainly Yorkshire based businesses or organisations with close relationships with St. James’s Place. Their ongoing support ensures that the Awards continue to grow in stature and importance.
Our Media Partners play a massive part in helping us to grow awareness, find new followers and share the children’s stories.
Each year the organising team from St. James’s Place Leeds location faces the unenviable task of reading the nominees stories and short listing the winners. What is significant is that many past winners have used YCCA as a ‘springboard’ to further achievement and recognition in their careers and daily lives.
There are so many ways that you can contribute to Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards – from donating a raffle or auction prize to becoming an event partner or sponsor.
